Yet Another Business Dumps ‘The Donald’ Due To Racist Remarks And It’s Another Big Name

It was bound to happen. We’ve seen it before, with Paula Deen, the Duck Dynasty Klan, the Duggars. . .

One thing Americans often get right is when pop culture icons who star in reality shows make complete asses of themselves, we typically respond by hitting them with demands for removal – from tv networks, merchandise in stores, our DVRs, and shopping lists. Even with as rich as Trump is, he isn’t immune to that kind of backlash. While the ripples of those waves are often temporary, for the good of us all, let’s hope this one grows into a tidal wave of both businesses and citizens.

Macy’s, the department store chain with the historic Herald Square flagship has been a New York icon for over a century and has sold Trump’s menswear line for over a decade is the newest player walking way from Trump’s table. In a statement the company says:

“We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation. In light of statements made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy’s values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy’s since 2004.”

Of course, in typical Trump style, he says this was all his decision and is now calling for a boycott of Macy’s.

This latest separation comes on the tail of NBC’s decision to tell the reality show host of The Celebrity Apprentice, “You’re Fired!” And, Univision’s message of, “Adios!” And, other business partners like Chicago-based microbrewery 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, who recently severed ties with Trump Tower over the controversial statements. It’s not a very good week of “strategery” or “synergy” for the New York business man.

If this provides us any inkling as to what a United States would look like with a President Trump – I’m afraid. I’m very afraid.

Can you imagine a Donald Trump peace negotiation? Can you imagine a Donald Trump having access to the little red button? Frightening. It’s truly frightening.

While many Americans are embracing Trumps “honesty” and willingness to slay the yearnings of decorum that are often the motivation behind being “politically correct,” Trump illustrates exactly why he is not the diplomat needed to speak for a diverse country like the United States.

Hopefully as the GOP clown car fills, the chances of Trump coming out on top will drop. He is currently second for the GOP nomination; in both New Hampshire and Iowa. Yes, second.

One thing we know for sure, in a nation where approximately 54 million citizens are Hispanic, accounting for the largest of the nation’s minority races, and of those 64 percent are Mexican – it’s likely not a good idea to alienate them with remarks like:

“They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.”
