Ted Cruz Just Gloated How Proud He Was To Stop Gun Reform After Sandy Hook Massacre (VIDEO)

While on the campaign trail in Tennessee, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) decided to talk about his record of conservative actions to show people that he is the “true conservative” people should vote for. Because, after all, actions speak louder than words. He said, people aren’t looking for a “campaign conservative,” but rather one that has stood the test of time on being the biggest douchebag conservative of all.

Cruz brought up when he was Solicitor General of Texas and that he was the guy who brought case after case to the Supreme Court. Cases like keeping “under God” in the pledge of allegiance, and keeping the 10 Commandments on public land. Cases that defended the Second Amendment and U.S. sovereignty.

During his self-congratulatory speech of things he’s won but really shouldn’t have, he decided to talk about actions he’s taken while being a United States Senator. He said the “first major fight” that he had in the Senate was defending the right to keep and bear arms. He said:

“Following the tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, President Obama and Harry Reid lead an assault, not on going after violent criminals, which is what they should have done, but instead going after the Constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. And I lead the fight to protect the Second Amendment in the U.S. Senate and we defeated President Obama efforts to undermine our rights.”

Let’s get something perfectly clear — what President Obama proposed following the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School where 26 people were killed was not an “assault on law-abiding citizens.” That is a blatant lie — a sick and twisted, stomach-churning lie, that is purely pandering to make equally sick and twisted people who put guns before lives vote for him.

If you’re at all interested in facts, what President Obama proposed after the Sandy Hook massacre were common sense approaches to reform that would not do anything to “law-abiding citizens,” but rather make sure violent criminals and the mentally ill don’t get their hands on guns. THAT is what Senator Cruz is so proud of defeating in the Senate. He’s proud of stopping reform that will save lives. Here’s what he tweeted out upon the defeat of the Manchin-Toomey bill:

Yeah, he gloated then, too.

Cruz happily gloats to his supporters who fall over him while on the campaign trail, but it be interesting to see what he would do when looking face to face with the parents of Sandy Hook Elementary School who lost their young children that day because someone had access to guns who shouldn’t have.

Gun reform isn’t about taking away law-abiding citizens rights to own guns, it’s about protecting it. It’s about upholding in the Second Amendment. The original purpose of the Second Amendment was to arm and train citizen militias to fight for the republic. It was a necessity then, but it isn’t now, and the people not upholding the Second Amendment are people like Senator Ted Cruz. People are not properly trained and regulated. People are not owning guns for the security of the republic, but rather for their own self use, whatever that may be, and for some, it’s for killing 26 people in an elementary school, or nine people in a church, or 12 people in a movie theater, or 32 people at a college. THAT is what Cruz is defending. THAT is what he is proud of.

It’s a good thing that Cruz believes in Hell, because there’s a special place waiting just for him.
