Bitter Confederate Flag-Lovers Want To Ban Rainbow Flag Because Virginia Shooter Was Gay (IMAGES)

It appears that Confederate flag-lovers are still upset about the removal of their racist flag, and are hitting back with a vindictive online movement to ban the LGBT rainbow flag following the fatal shooting of two Virginia WDBJ-TV journalists on Wednesday.

Because the shooter, former disgruntled WDBJ employee Vester Flanagan, happened to be gay, the conservatives are making comparisons between him and white supremacist Dylann Roof, who shot dead nine black churchgoers in Charleston, South Carolina in June. Roof, who was a clear supporter of the Confederate flag and its racist history, became a major driving force behind the Confederate flag’s ban – but to compare the gay pride flag to what was clearly a historical symbol of hate is completely erroneous. Nonetheless, conservatives are blinded to logic, and relentless.

Getting riled up by what is one isolated case of a black gay shooter in comparison to the countless amount of racially motivated violence on African Americans, these bitter conservatives have started a whiney #TakeItDown movement on Twitter to moan about how unfair it is that their racist flag was removed but a flag that symbolizes love and equality still prevails.

Just to show how serious these people are, here’s what racist conservative site Breitbart published about the confederate vs. rainbow flag comparison:

“The gay pride rainbow flag reportedly found in Flanagan’s apartment is seen by many as a symbol of anti-Christian hate.

After a white racist terrorist in South Carolina murdered nine innocent black churchgoers, photos of the racist with the Confederate Flag resulted in a media frenzy to ban the flag. Like the Confederate flag, the provocative gay pride flag, a symbol of religious oppression, has flown on government property. The Confederate Flag has since been taken down in South Carolina.

Thus far, other than a mention in the Telegraph, the media has not reported on the fact that Flanagan might have owned the LGBT rainbow hate-flag.”

The LGBT pride flag has NEVER been a symbol of hate or oppression – it’s a symbol of equality and freedom and doesn’t have any historical ties to slavery or any other despicable human rights violations like the Confederate flag.

It should come as no surprise that Breitbart columnist and editor Ben Shapiro got in on this.

The stupidity hurts – and the more reasonable side of Twitter was ready to let these conservatives know what a weak argument they were making.
