Maine Gov. Paul LePage On BPA: Worst Case Is Some Women May Have Little Beards

Maine Governor Paul LePage has no problem with BPA, a chemical that is released from plastic bottles when they’re microwaved. In fact, he’s quoted as saying “if you take a plastic bottle and put it in the microwave and you heat it up, it gives off a chemical similar to estrogen. So the worst case is some women may have little beards.”

Via The Huffington Post;

LePage last week said he’s not seen enough science to support a ban on bisphenol-A. A 2008 law to keep it out of consumer products is likely to be debated again.

LePage is quoted in the Bangor Daily News as saying that all he’s heard is that “if you take a plastic bottle and put it in the microwave and you heat it up, it gives off a chemical similar to estrogen. So the worst case is some women may have little beards.”

Mike Belliveau of the Environmental Health Strategy Center said the comment “displays shocking ignorance for the science and a callous disregard for children’s health.”

    You missed the point here. Why would anyone want to nuke plastic water bottles? That is a Darwin moment in and of itself. Why are folks that stupid? I believe the governor is looking for more DATA on the subject matter! Evidence! Show me more EVIDENCE! In pharma, you need to have lots of studies before bringing a drug to market. Besides, we all know that global warming is a HOAX! Mother nature will always prevail and she will correct herself. When will man ever realize that he is small in the scheme of things? BTW, when reviewing the evidence, make sure the study is not sponsored by some company that is making a competitive product. The data may be biased. These stat guys know how to “bend the light”.

    Guyz, we have to look on this aspects that what Governor Paul LePage had declared rather than pointing his things. Estrogen is a dangerous chemical which directly effects Harmon. Some scientist also declared that Risk of endometrial cancer is postmenopausal women taking them for prolonged periods of time.

    Excessive amounts of estrogen in women DOES NOT cause facial hair, the exact opposite is true. But, and get this GUYS..high levels of estrogen can cause reduced levels of testosterone, fatigue, loss of muscle tone, increased body fat, loss of libido and sexual function and an enlarged prostate in MEN.
