Missouri GOP House Speaker: Single Moms And Premarital Sex Will Make Pedophilia Acceptable (AUDIO)

A Republican who is seeking to become Missouri’s next governor decided to viciously attack single mothers and the sexual freedom of women everywhere by saying single motherhood and pre-marital sex will make child abuse and pedophilia acceptable.

Catherine Hanaway is the current House Speaker in the Missouri legislature, and she’s a former U.S. attorney under George W. Bush. And she has her sights on Governor Jay Nixon’s job. And in good ole conservative fashion, Hanaway has a problem with single mothers and the freedom women have in the bedroom. She thinks both will lead to legalized child pornography and pedophilia.

According to Hanaway, if a woman has pre-marital sex or has a baby without being married first, it opens the door for “every sexual preference” to become “acceptable” in our society, including child rape.

“What concerns me is the slide in our culture that says, ‘Hey, everything is OK, and so why should just having a picture of something be a crime? Because to possess child pornography is a crime, why should that be a crime?’ Well, it should be a crime,” Hanaway said as if this is actually really happening. (It isn’t).

Hanway also tries to claim that liberals are the ones waging a war on women by not policing their sex lives.

“Their chief criticism of conservatives, the chief criticism is that we stand up for the sanctity of life, that because we are pro-life we are somehow against women. I am here to say that their culture of permissiveness towards sexual activity is the real ‘war on women.’

If you pursue this course that sexual permissiveness is to be valued, which is the liberal framework, and that you should protect sexual permissiveness through abortions and other things, you lead to a conclusion where every sexual preference is acceptable. Now, I still think and pray that an overwhelming majority of Americans believe that those who have a sexual preference for children are evil.”

One would think Republicans would shut their mouths about women, especially in Missouri, where Todd Akin torpedoed his ambition to be a US Senator by claiming that women can use their vaginas to prevent becoming pregnant from rape.

But here is yet another Missouri Republican making horrible claims about women in an effort to bolster her own conservative credentials ahead of 2016. And she covered nearly all the bases, too. She made sure to demonize women who have pre-marital sex, women who give birth out-of-wedlock, and women who raise children by themselves and went even further by trying to connect them to pedophilia and child pornography. It’s simply outrageous and should cost Hanaway the female vote in 2016.

What she should really do, however, is drop out of the race and resign. Her remarks are offensive to women and should disqualify her from public office.
