School Official: The Only Thing Women Know Is ‘Laying On Your Back With Your Legs In The Air Splayed’ (VIDEO)

Members of the Perry County District school board, located in Perryville, Missouri, voted 4-3 in favor of asking for fellow board member, Mark Gremaud’s resignation.

The vote came about as the result of Gremaud’s comments, directed toward a female board member, Kathy Carron, during an earlier school board meeting.

“Kathy, you are just a woman, the only thing you know is laying on your back with your legs in the air splayed.”

According to KFVS, dozens of parents and teachers attended the special board meeting, many of them to show support for Gremaud.

As male board member Jeff Weilbrecht spoke in defense of Gremaud, calling the response to the comment “petty,” KFVS reports that half of the people in attendance applauded.

“I’m not saying Mark Gremaud is the perfect board member, I’m not saying I’m one either. I do ask that the rest of us stop and put our petty differences aside once and act like adults and accept that we have differences,” Weilbrecht said.

Differences? As in the male members of the school board believe that the female members should stay in the bedroom, where they belong? Or possibly as in the male members believe that they can degrade and insult their female colleagues if they feel like it, and their female colleagues disagree?

Weilbrecht went on to praise his male colleague for all the good work he’s said to have done for the school, even helping out when they needed a bus driver and stuff. Apparently in his mind that means the comment should just be ignored.

Here’s video of part of Weilbrecht’s deplorable remarks in defense of outrageous sexism on the school board, via KFVS.

As for Carron, she not only had to go through the experience of being degraded by a male colleague, but because she refused to stand for it, she has to sit through other board members implying that she’s petty?

For those looking for a reason to blame the victim, Nancy Voelker, president of the Perry County District 32 Board of Education, released a statement addressing Gremaud’s comments and the subsequent vote to ask for his resignation:

“I assure you that the comments for which Mr. Gremaud was censured were unprovoked. This is a fact uncontested by six members of the board. The discussion was not about teachers, students, farmers, or any other conjecture you may see on social media. We were discussing board procedures and board behaviors. Mrs. Carron’s statement was not directed to Mr. Gremaud, but was rather directed to the entire board. Mrs. Carron made a reasonable comment in a reasonable manner, before Mr. Gremaud’s unprovoked verbal attack.”

And if the discussion had been about “teachers, students, farmers or any other conjecture” seen on social media, saying that to a female colleague might, maybe be OK? Really?

Have these people ever heard of a sexual harassment suit? Apparently not. Maybe they need to. The remarks that Gremaud directed at his female colleague are not only extremely offensive, they’re entirely illegal. While some board members seem to think that his remark was no big deal, the law makes it very clear that women do not have to put up with this shit. It’s 2015. Someone should tell Perry County, Missouri parents that their daughters have a lot more to offer the world than “laying on their backs with their legs in the air, splayed.” They deserve much better than to have men like this making decisions about their education.
