Here’s Paul Ryan’s Nauseating Agenda For Congress, Try Not To Gag (VIDEO)

Today the newly appointed GOP Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, laid out the agenda for the GOP Congress.

You were likely expecting any agenda set by failed former vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan to be bad. Let me assure you that it is. Breathtakingly so.

Ryan kicked off his first speech as the new republican Speaker of the House by saying “Our No. 1 goal for the next year is to put together a complete alternative to the left’s agenda.” He elaborated by saying that, even if the President won’t sign it, “we will put out specific proposals and give the people a real choice.”

What that means, for those who aren’t sure, is that Ryan plans to do what republicans do best, which is to oppose anything and everything suggested by the president or democrats, regardless of what it might be. Beyond that, Ryan hopes to waste more time and taxpayer dollars creating and passing legislation that he knows will never be signed into law.

The only thing new here is the phrase used to describe the same old republican obstruction of  government which we have seen for the past seven years. Ryan’s calling it “giving the people a real choice.”

Of course the people have absolutely no choice regarding the actions of Congress, which is probably why many find cockroaches and head lice more appealing than double talking GOP obstructionists.

Even republicans are sick of republican obstructionism. But why should members of congress care about that when they’ve got their districts so gerrymandered, they’re confident they can never be voted out, no matter how much the country despises them?

Once Ryan was finished laying down his obstructionist agenda, he moved on to spell out the rest of his grand plan.

While Ryan’s agenda includes seven points, they could easily have been summed up in just two.

  1. Take from the poor.
  2. Give to the rich.

Ryan’s agenda includes a huge tax cut for the very rich, in addition to a huge tax cut for corporations.

In order to pay for this bonanza for wealthy GOP donors, Ryan proposes we take money away from programs that help the poor and middle class. His agenda includes cuts to domestic programs like food stamps and education, medicaid and medicare.

Also on Ryan’s agenda, the brilliant idea of turning certain federal programs, which currently benefit the most vulnerable Americans, into slush funds that republican governors can do whatever they want with.

Robert Reich sums up Ryan’s utterly nauseating seven point plan in the video below.

Today Paul Ryan set out his agenda for the Republican House. It boils down to 7 terrible ideas. Here they are, and why they’re terrible:

Republicans may have a new face in the House Speaker position, but Ryan’s agenda is full of the same old GOP trickle-down garbage that we’ve seen at least a million times before.

Ryan’s agenda could be described as shameful, but it’s clear that republicans have no shame.

Democrats need a solid plan for taking back the house in 2016. It’s time to kick the ridiculous GOP agenda to the curb once and for all.
